Chocolate chip banana bread (vegan)

A classic chocolate chip banana bread recipe that's eggless and dairy free!

  • 180 g Caster sugar 3/4 Cup + 2 Tablespoons
  • 110 g Dairy free spread 1/2 Cup
  • 3 medium Ripe bananas, mashed
  • 180 ml Almond milk (3/4 cup)
  • 250 g Self-raising flour 2 Cups
  • 100 g Dark chocolate chips 3/4 Cup


  1. Preheat oven to 180C/ Fan 160C/ 350F/ Gas mark 4. Grease or line a 2lb loaf tin.

  2. Cream together the dairy-free spread and sugar in a large bowl.

  3. Mash the bananas with a fork or food processor and add them to the bowl.  Add the milk and mix well.

  4. Add the flour. Gently fold in, being careful not to overmix the batter.

  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.

  6. Spoon the slightly thick batter into the loaf pan and place on the middle shelf of the oven. Bake for around 1 hour 10 minutes, or until a skewer through the middle comes out clean.

*You can use gluten-free self-raising flour for this recipe if desired, but be sure to add another mashed banana to prevent it from crumbling.
